June 25, at 6 p.m. at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia the ceremonial evening has been held dedicated to the 15th Jubilee of the Polish cultural-educational union "Polonia” in Georgia.
The Jubilee was held under the tutelage of Mr. Bogdan Borusevitch Head of the Senate of Polish Republic.
For the special event Senator Marek Konopka of the Senate of Polish Republic arrived from Poland.
Famous musicians took part in the ceremonial concert, of which some, for example, Giorgi Shaverzashvili, Viktoria Chaplinskaia and Nina Khmiadashvili are the members of "Polonia”.

"Polonia”. At 1995 the cultural-educational union "Polonia” was established at Tbilisi State University. For that time period Polish Embassy in Georgia had not been arranged yet, and on this new historical stage the union turned out to be the very first one and only polish organization that promoted polish culture and science in Georgia. As its Head Marina Filina is the university professor, most of the scientific and cultural activities had been held at Tbilisi State University. During those 15 years the new circle of the Georgian scientists related to the polish culture and science, has been initiated and furthermore developed.
Marek Konopka. (Born on March 27, 1961 in Pishi) – polish politician and teacher, has been primarily occupied with self-administration, and since 2007 is the senator of the VII Parliament Assembly.
He graduated from Gdansky Physical Education Academy, the Pedagogical Faculty. Then he worked as a teacher and was the head-master of the school at Bialey Piskey in 1998-2007.
He worked at Piskey Regional Council in 1998-2002, implementing the responsibility of the manager, in 2005-2006 he was the member of the regional self-administration.
In 2007 in parliamental elections from the list of the party "Civil Platform” with the majority of voices 93 837, Marek Konopka was elected as the Senator to the VII Assembly in Olsztyn Region.
Parliamentary Activities. Mr. Marek Konopka remarks: "My main duty is Parliamentary Activities. I take part in organizing the sittings of Senate and two constant Commissions (territory self-administration and living abroad poles union commissions); also I am involved in the activities of tourism and sport commissions of Senate. At the Senate sittings I always promote important issues regarding the state.”
